Another great weekend for NDSS at the Beat-Herder 2011

For the fifth consecutive year, Cardiff based Security & Crowd Safety Management Company NDSS Ltd, provided the Beat-Herder Festival in Lancashire with a complete Crowd Safety Management service. This year’s sell-out festival was held during the weekend of 1st, 2nd & 3rd July 2011.
 
Due to increased demand for tickets, the organisers decided to increase the capacity for this year’s festival to 10,000 people. That’s an increase of 2,500 on the previous year. With this increase in numbers, the planning started just after the 2010 festival had finished, as NDSS Ltd’s Managing Director Nick Dymond explains:

The addition of a further 2,500 people coming onto the festival site created a number of issues for us. Our main concern being the build-up of traffic entering the site and tailing back onto the very busy A59. Traffic Management is an area we have looked into a lot recently as another service we can provide our clients and working with the festival promoters and Lancashire Police, I am pleased to mention we had no real traffic management problems all weekend”.
 
Due to the success of the festival, demand for tickets has soared over the last couple of years. With the festival selling out for the previous 3 years, the number of people attempting to gain illegal entry to the site has increased.
Nick Dymond made further comment saying “this year NDSS focused heavily on securing the perimeter to the festival site and introduced additional security measures to resident’s property on the fringe of the festival site. This allowed us the opportunity to monitor more approach routes to the festival while at the same time providing local residents with the reassurance of a high visibility security presence”.
 
NDSS Ltd provided 120 SIA Licensed Staff & 60 Event Stewards to this year’s festival.
 
This year’s festival played host to a selection of big names, including: Leftfield, Andrew Weatherall, Simian Mobile Disco, T.E.E.D, Dreadzone, Mylo and the Dub Pistols.
 
Discussions are already taking place for next year’s festival with NDSS Ltd providing their services for a sixth year.
